How
would you travel from Detroit to Chicago today? Would you stop along the way?
This Michigan’s Time Traveler takes you back to the 1840s, when your trip would
have been by wagon, horse, foot or stagecoach. It would take about five to six
days, so you would have to stop along the way at places like Walker Tavern.
Click on a topic on the left to find out how you would have traveled during
the 1840s, Michigan's early statehood days.
