This Detroit building was Michigan's Territorial Capitol and its first State Capitol. Then it became a school.

Look for a picture of Michigan's first capitol building in Lansing at the Archives of Michigan web site.

This is the State Capitol in Lansing shortly after completion in 1879.

Look in the newspaper for things happening in this building today. It's where the Michigan Senate and House of Representatives meet.
