Honoring Miners and Their Families
Iron Industry Heritage Plaques for the Forging Our Future Campaign
The Michigan Iron Industry Museum has launched a capital
campaign that will allow it to be a year-round facility, a stronger
educational resource, a tourism hub and a community meeting place as it
preserves and interprets the heritage of Michigan's iron ranges. The expanded
facility will include a new exhibition gallery, a discovery center, a
reference library, and outdoor trails and demonstration areas.
When you make a donation to this exciting project, you receive
the opportunity to submit a name or a name and a photograph for the Heritage
Plaques that will encircle the new gallery. The donor levels are:
| Donations of $1,000 or more |
Photograph and name for a 10" x 10" plaque |
| Donations of $250-$999 |
Photograph and name for a 5" x 5" plaque |
| Donations of $100-$249 |
Name for a 5" x 2.5" plaque |
In addition, the museum will create and maintain a database of
the iron miners and community members for use by museum visitors. Photographs
for the plaques and database may be loaned to the museum for copying on
donated to the museum for preservation.
