Broom Making MachineBroom Vise

Arthur Gilson's trade was broom-making. He worked for the Lockway & Stark Company in Benton Harbor from the early 1900s until 1929. Gilson made brooms on his own throughout the Great Depression and into the 1940s. He died in 1964. His wife Edna donated the broom-making machine to the museum in 1968. The object on the right is a broom vise.
