More Than Selling Cookies

Children as young as six join youth organizations. Beginning in the early 20th century, young people joined groups such as the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Camp Fire Girls and 4-H. Each group had its own symbols, uniforms, handbooks and awards, but all had the common purpose of teaching young people to be good citizens.
