In 1862 and 1863, three of the
Goodridge childrenWallace, William and Marymoved to East Saginaw,
Michigan. Wallace worked as a barber. Mary married John L. Nichols, who
was also a barber.
We don't know exactly when Wallace
and William established their Michigan studio, but by 1864 they were
practicing the profession they had learned from their brother, Glenalvin.
Wallace was 24 years old; William was 18.
Their studio was on the third floor
of the new Crouse Block at East Saginaw's busiest intersection,
Washington and Genesee. Look carefully at the second window from the
right and you can see one of the brothers. (Click on the photo to see

After his release from prison,
Glenalvin guided and worked with his brothers until his death in 1867.
His son Glen J. was the first member of the next generation to work in
the studio.
