1914 was the last year porcelainized plates were issued. Motorcycle and manufacturer plates had also been issued in porcelain-coated metal between 1910 and 1914. The plate is cast iron with a porcelain-like finish that is glazed on. The state seal is black on white.

In 1914 the annual fee for registering an automobile was a flat fee of $3. (Some states set fees according to horse power.) Michigan also had a flat rate for motorcycles ($3).
